California Proposition 65 Disclosure

This page explains California's Proposition 65 and what it means for the products we carry at Complete Health Nutrition.

What is Proposition 65?

Proposition 65, officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is a California law that requires businesses to provide clear warnings before exposing individuals to chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

The State of California maintains and regularly updates a list of these chemicals. As of today, the list includes over 900 substances. Businesses that sell products containing any of these chemicals are required to notify consumers.

Why Am I Seeing This Warning?

Many dietary supplements and whole foods contain naturally occurring trace amounts of substances on the Proposition 65 list — such as lead, cadmium, and arsenic — which are found in soil, water, and the plant materials used to produce these products.

A Proposition 65 warning does not mean a product is unsafe. The warning thresholds set by Proposition 65 are typically hundreds of times lower than levels shown to cause health effects in scientific studies. For context, many everyday foods — spinach, sweet potatoes, rice, Brussels sprouts, and even drinking water — contain these same naturally occurring trace elements.

Does This Apply to Me?

Proposition 65 is a California-specific regulation. However, because Complete Health Nutrition ships products to customers throughout the United States, we provide this disclosure for full transparency — regardless of where you're located.
